Our History
Lutz Learning Center began from a very simple and basic need: Quality Early Education. After serving in the public school system for over a decade as a special needs teacher, founder and first time mom, Elaine Peverell was frustrated with the lack of quality early childhood education programs available to parents. Due to her profession, she was very aware of the importance of high level programming during the portion of a child’s life when the brain is developing the most synapses: birth through age five. With this in mind, she designed and built Lutz Learning Center from the ground up, her driving force: “what I want for my child”, which was personalized care and an individualized educational route. On November 3, 1980, Ms Elaine, as she is known at school, opened the doors of her brand new Childcare facility to just under 30 students, one of those children being Ms Elaine's own two year old daughter, Kimberly.
As Kimberly's daughter, Emberly, approached Kindergarten age, it was apparent that Lutz Learning Center needed to expand into private school. The mission was to continue the journey put in place by our preschool to take children like Emberly to their maximum potential. Now, with more than thirty-seven years at 621 Sunset Lane, with a larger, improved facility that educates students up to their entry into High School, Lutz Learning Center continues to pave the way for future leaders and young people.
