This pandemic has necessitated some changes to the way we conduct business. Hopefully, we will eventually be able to return to a more open environment to allow more parent participation in our program and bring more opportunities to our children. Below are some of the changes to the enclosed policies.
The biggest (and saddest) is our open door policy which is now prohibited by CDC guidelines. Restriction beyond our foyer to anyone other than our staff and enrolled children. Anyone entering the foyer must wear a mask. Program tours are by appointment only and allow for a brief walk-through wearing masks.
Children are met at and returned to the parent/guardian’s car. Parents sign child in/out using the Brightwheel App allowing touchless sign in/out. Parents attest on the app there has been no exposure or symptoms. Temperatures are monitored and recorded and no child measuring 99 degrees will be allowed to stay. Hands are sanitized at check-in. Children are monitored throughout the day for symptoms.
We are required to limit as much as possible activities exposing children to other groups of children and community events and involvement to reduce potential exposure.
Awards programs, class performances and such are videoed to share with parents. Field trips have been put on hold as well as outside enrichment vendors. Volunteers and parent participation is limited to remote participation or sending in materials.
Meals are no longer family style. Plates are prepared for the children.
Children are not required to wear masks but may if parents desire. Staff will wear masks when it does not interfere with their ability to teach.
We are constantly disinfecting. Materials and surfaces are sanitized throughout the day as well as the building is fogged each evening.
Parents are notified of any potential exposure and are required to report exposure within their circle of family and friends.
We will get through this and hope to return to normal soon.
