Our Program

The Center’s programs provide each child with the opportunity to develop socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically at a pace appropriate for each child.  The Center is designed specifically for children and their enrichment.  Children are encouraged to examine, explore, and discover.  Perceptual and motor developments are promoted by exposure and practiced use of specific materials and equipment.  Children are given the opportunity to make choices yet learn to function with a degree of structure.  Children’s development is continuously assessed to ensure each child is provided a challenging and successful experience and is developing appropriately.

We offer a very rich curriculum with a strong focus on phonics and word recognition based off the High Scope Philosophy.  It is considered by the State of Florida Department of Education as the most developmentally appropriate practice for young children.  It involves the use of “work centers” to provide a hands-on-learning environment.  Concepts are taught through materials in the centers and small group activities. Reading skills and language development are emphasized as well as number concepts and nature’s phenomena.  Fine and gross motor skills and appropriate social skills are practiced continuously throughout the day.   The school is run with intense passion regarding what is best for the individual child by providing quality education in these formative years.

Preschool - for children ages twelve months up until they are "ready" for Pre-Kindergarten.
Our Preschool classrooms focus on teaching positive social interaction, verbal skills, emergent literacy, deductive reasoning skills, and cognitive concepts.  We instill self esteem through development of self help skills and abilities.  This program is all inclusive, and full of hands on educational experiences that promote active learning and comprehension. We enthusiastically learn through play, while great emphasis is placed on school readiness skills.  We strive to meet and exceed developmental milestones by providing challenging learning experiences at all levels.

Pre-Kindergarten

Our goal is to maximize each child’s learning experiences.  We believe in learning through discovery.  We have discovered that our VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) children leave us at a level significantly higher than the public kindergartens are prepared to address.  To continue high achievement of our Accelerated Pre-Kindergarten graduates, we began our private school.

For VPK registration information please follow this link for Hillsborough County's Early Learning Coalition (ELC).  You must register with the Hillsborough ELC and with Lutz Learning Center to participate in VPK.

Remember, your child is eligible for the VPK program funding, the academic calendar year they turn four on or before September 1st.  A common misconception is that a child qualifies for VPK funding as soon as they celebrate their fourth birthday.  For questions regarding early entry into a VPK class, please contact the school directly.
Lutz Learning Center is an approved VPK provider holding a Gold Seal Accreditation.

 Elementary
Students who are developmentally challenged in school generally perform very well, both academically and socially.  The reasons for this are clear.  In an accelerated program, an academically advanced child is never under challenged, and does not learn what it’s like to be bored.  Instead of finding school effortless, and that he/she can succeed without having to work, a child who is placed in the right school, right from the start will learn that striving to improve is a wonderful part of learning.  Our school is a warm community of professionals who have extreme passion regarding the enrichment of our future.  We believe that each individual child should be taught at the highest level they are capable of performing.  Our low teacher to student ratio allows us that opportunity.

The Gifted Child

The statement, “All Parents think their Child is Gifted”, is a myth.  Parents are usually the first ones to notice.  Our school and its programs cater to the gifted mind.  Introducing academic concepts early, we are fully aware that children may not reach their potential if they are not provided with an appropriate educational environment.  Early advancement is the key to nurturing the highly bright, highly cognitive child.  For this reason, we place children, not by chronological age, but developmentally.  Because our curriculum is geared at a higher level, we commonly find students participating in our program to be functioning at a significantly above standard.  We do not hold a child back from entering our Pre-Kindergarten or Elementary classes based on their birth date.
