Florida legislature mandates every Licensed Child Care Facility be inspected routinely for compliance with minimum standards. These inspections are not scheduled; the inspector drops in unannounced to determine if the school is operating lawfully.
Please be very aware inspectors are checking only the basics such as:
completion of staff screening to be sure they have no prior criminal violations that would disqualify them from working with children BEFORE they are placed in the classroom,
meeting minimum teacher to student ratios, and meeting the state required minimum teacher training requirements.
A school with REINSPECTION should be a red flag.
The Florida Department of Children & Family Services provides a brochure to assist families in awareness of the licensing standards. Florida Department of Children & Families: Know Your Child Care Facility
